With Thailand moving towards a formal same-sex Partnership, it is sad to observe neighbouring Countries seemingly move backwards.
Recent reports have stated that LGBTs in Myanmar have been arrested under the colonial era section 377 law. This is the section that was previously in place in India and is now being contested in Singapore. See Gay Star News article for more information.
We also recently highlighted concerns about further intimidation and arrests in Indonesia.
In Malaysia, LGBTs have complained of deteriorating rights since the new Government came to power earlier this year - and there have been some recent examples of this, including a Politician blaming LGBTs for natural disasters. A recent article also highlighted the blight of conversion therapy in Malaysia, which is a worrying and degrading issue in many Asia Countries.
